Kathryn Sue Boyette Norton, 74

August 29, 1951 – February 13, 2026

Kathryn Sue Boyette Norton, known and loved by many as Kathy, gently laid down the cares of this earthly life and entered into her Heavenly home on Friday, February 13, 2026, in the comfort of her own home, surrounded by the family she so dearly loved. Though our hearts are heavy, we rejoice in knowing that her faith has now become sight.

In honoring Kathy’s wishes, a private service was held on Saturday at Ripley Funeral Home for her immediate family. They are deeply grateful for every prayer, message, and act of kindness shown during this time, and they carry with them the comfort of a community who loved her so well.

Born on August 29, 1951, in Ripley, Mississippi, Kathy was the cherished daughter of Mrs. Sarah Ann Day Boyette and the late Asa Marlin Boyette, lovingly known to all as “Jr.” A proud graduate of Ripley High School, she continued her education at Northeast Mississippi Community College and Mississippi State College. On November 18, 1983, she married the love of her life, Mr. Frank Norton, who survives. Together, they built a beautiful life rooted in faith, family, and the close-knit fellowship of Tippah County.

For twenty-five years, Kathy was a familiar and welcoming face at Ripley Elementary School, serving faithfully as the cafeteria cashier. Generations of children will forever remember her sweet smile, kind words, and the way she made each one feel seen and special. She did not just serve as a cashier — she served love, encouragement, and a gentle reminder that someone cared.

A devoted Christian and faithful member of Ripley First Methodist Church, Kathy lived her life with joy and gratitude. She and Frank shared a love for the open road, traveling through forty-six states and making memories at every stop along the way. She proudly kept up with Mississippi State football and baseball, cheered wholeheartedly, and celebrated every win as if it were her own. Above all, she treasured time spent with her family and friends — telling stories, sharing laughter, and lighting up every room she entered with her vibrant spirit.

Even when faced with a cancer diagnosis, Kathy never wavered in her faith. She held tightly to the promises of the Lord, remaining optimistic, courageous, and steadfast. Her strength was quiet but powerful, and her hope never dimmed. She trusted fully in God’s plan, even when the path was difficult.

Kathy will forever be remembered as a devoted wife, precious mother, cherished daughter, devoted grandmother, loving sister, and loyal friend. Her life was a testament to simple goodness — to kindness given freely, to faith lived daily, and to love that never kept score.

And though we will miss her voice in our conversations, her laughter in our gatherings, and her presence at our tables, we take comfort in this: the same hands that held ours in this life are now resting in the hands of her Savior. One day, when our journey here is finished, we trust she will be waiting — with that same sweet smile — reminding us once more that love never truly says goodbye.

In addition to her mother, Mrs. Sarah and her husband, Mr. Frank, Kathy’s legacy will continue be cherished by her daughter, Sarah “Kakie” Stroupe (Jase), her two sons, Joey Mauney (Jennifer), and Justin Mauney, her two sisters, Babs Oguin (Ronnie), and Sally Farrow (Robert), seven grandchildren, and five great grandchildren, along with a wide circle of friends and extended family.

She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Jenny Barkley.

In honor of Kathy’s memory, donations can be made to The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
