Kaye Cayson, 78

April 4, 1947  –  September 4, 2025

Nettleton-Linda Kaye Riley Cayson lived a life of faith, family and community and transformed from her earthy pilgrimage to her eternal home with her Lord and Savior at 4:50 AM Thursday, Sept. 4, 2025. She was 78 years old. Born on April 8, 1947 into pioneer Itawamba/ Lee County families, her parents were the the late Eugene “Gene” Riley and Irma Mae Black Riley. The Riley’s were proprietors of a Nettleton legend for 40 years, Riley’s Dairy Bar. Kaye graduated from Nettleton High School in l965. She married the love of her life, the late James B. “Jimmy” Cayson on Oct. 25, l968, a marriage of almost 52 years until his death on Aug. 26, 2020. The Cayson’s were longtime members of Nettleton United Methodist Church, later being charter members of CrossPointe Fellowship. At her death, she was a member of Liberty Baptist Church east of Nettleton.

Kaye and Jimmy kept Nettleton well clothed as owners for 25 years of Cayson’s, Inc., a fine clothing store in Downtown Nettleton. Kaye’s uncle, the late Felix Black, a legend in merchandizing clothing and running a Department Store, was their inspiration. Kaye always had a heart for others especially the underdog. Before there was a thought in the very beginning, prayers were lifted up that God would make a way. Kaye was used as a willing vessel for the Lord in response to that prayer and what followed was the birth of God’s House of Hope in Nettleton, a transition home for people with addictions trying to reshape and stabilize their lives. That was 9 years ago and now there are 4 locations because of her obedience to the Lord. There is no way to describe her love for her Savior and God’s House of Hope. Kaye always presented herself with poise, dignity and grace, hair in place and dressed to the 9’s. Despite her great looks, she liked nothing better than getting her hands dirty gardening and working in her flower beds. Her yard was always immaculately manicured. Hers was a life of abundant blessings from her Creator.

A service celebrating her life will take place at 3 PM Sunday, Sept. 7, 2025 at Liberty Baptist Church east of Nettleton with Bro. Robert Hogue, her pastor, officiating. Visitation will be from 4 PM-7PM Saturday 9/6/25, and from 2 PM-service time on Sunday, all at Liberty Baptist Church, 101 Liberty Church Road, Nettleton, MS, 38858.
