Kelly Announces Service Academy Appointment of Mitchell Shettles

WASHINGTON – U.S. Representative Trent Kelly (R-Miss.) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mitchell Shettles to the United States Coast Guard Academy. Mitchell’s appointment follows his attendance at the United States Naval Academy Preparatory School in Newport, Rhode Island. During his year at the Naval Academy Preparatory School, Mitchell made the Dean’s List. He also was a member of the men’s basketball team.

Mitchell is a 2020 New Albany High School graduate. He has always excelled in academics and athletics while devoting time to public service projects.

Congressman Kelly nominated Mitchell. Service Academy representatives appointed him.

Congressman Trent Kelly represents Mississippi’s First Congressional District. He is a member of the House Armed Services Committee, serving as Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Intelligence and Special Operations. Congressman Kelly is also a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, the House Agriculture Committee, and the House Budget Committee. This is his fourth term.
