Kelly Selected as a Conferee for NDAA Conference Committee

WASHINGTON – House leadership has selected Congressman Trent Kelly (MS-01) to serve on the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) Conference Committee for Fiscal Year 2020.

“After more than three decades of serving in the Mississippi Army National Guard, Trent is no stranger to understanding the priorities our Department of Defense (DOD) must focus on to ensure we are prepared to counter current and future threats,” House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) said. “During his second tour in Iraq, he commanded hundreds of troops, and his steadfast leadership throughout the years has earned him several awards, including two Bronze Stars – there is no question his hands-on experience will make him a valuable member of this team. I am confident that Trent’s time on the battlefield and experience as the Ranking Member of the Military Personnel Subcommittee on HASC equipped him with the knowledge needed to make impactful decisions regarding our national defense.”

Selected Conferees will negotiate priorities and draft a final version of NDAA for consideration in the House and Senate.

Congressman Trent Kelly represents Mississippi’s First Congressional District. He serves as the Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Military Personnel of the House Armed Services Committee. Trent also serves on the House Committee on Agriculture and the House Committee on Small Business. This is his third term.
