Kevin “Kemp” Lyntorise Orr, 57
January 21, 1968 – November 30, 2025
Kevin Lyntorise Orr, efficiently known as Kemp, was born on January 21, 1968, in Okolona, Mississippi, to Johnny Orr and Geraldine Harper Ponder. From the very beginning, Kevin’s life was marked by resilience, love, and a deep devotion to family.
At a young age, Kevin moved to Chicago, Illinois, where he attended and graduated from Dunbar High School. His time in Chicago shaped his character, instilling in him a strong work ethic and a sense of community he carried throughout his life.
Later, returning to Mississippi to begin employment at Leggett and Platt (Super Sagless), where he worked with dedication and pride.
In 1991, “Kemp” married the love of his life, Wanda (Sue) Cox. Their union was a testament to enduring love, partnership, and faith. Together, they built a home filled with laughter, strength, and unwavering support for one another.
Kevin’s greatest joy was his family and friends. He is lovingly remembered by his two daughters, Shay Greene and LaToya Butler, and his two grandchildren, Braylon Carson and Bentley Greene, who brought him endless happiness and pride.
Kevin will be remembered for his warm smile, his kind heart, and his unwavering devotion to those he loved. He had a gift for making others feel valued and supported, and his presence was a source of strength for his family and community.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion to his devoted wife of thirty-four years Wanda Orr, two adult children, Shawanica ” Shay” Greene, Latoya Butler, his mother, Geraldine (Harper) Ponder (Lil Sis); his sisters Sheila Orr-Hall, Carlean Ponder Esq., Shena Ponder-Robinson (Dr. Lawerence Robinson, MD), Ashley Orr, and Victoria Orr; his brother Johnny Orr; and his foster siblings Angelina Ponder, Rashad Ponder, and Travell Ponder; a special brother-in-love: Nathan Cox (Angela), two grandchildren, Braylon Carson, Bentley Greene and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Kevin was preceded in death by his father, Johnny Orr, and his half-brother, Michael Orr; uncles: Leo Harper (Turkey) and Willie Harper (Jack); grandmother and grandfather.
