Walls talks legislative priorities to District 3 voters

New Albany MS Walls talks legislative priorities

District 3 State Senate candidate Kevin Walls talks legislative priorities that will be important if the voters decide to elect him to succeed retiring Senator Nickey Browning. With the August 27th Republican runoff election less than a week away, he is working hard to make his priorities known.

“Our roads and our schools should be a priority for any candidate for this office,” he said. “If we can’t safely travel to work and school in a timely manner, then we can’t expect workforce development and economic growth to easily take place.”

Walls made the point that without high-performing schools that are able to take the focus off of testing and place it onto the student, that the next generation could never be adequately prepared to move on towards higher education or demanding jobs.  “We have to expand and connect our trade programs in our colleges with the vocational programs found in some of the area high schools,” he said.

It is true that many trade jobs are paying much more than the most recent college graduate will make in the first few years of employment. The demand of the likes of electricians, truck drivers, and linemen is only expected to rise regionally, with a fast-growing population seeking to become more connected than ever before.

Kevin Walls faces Kathy Chism in the August 27th Republican runoff election.
