Large portions of META platforms Facebook, Instagram and Messenger are down worldwide

Facebook, Instagram and Messenger have gone down in what appears to be a huge worldwide outage at parent company Meta.

Services by tech giant Meta are currently down, according to outage tracking website Downdetector.

Users cannot load apps or access their websites as usual. Users appear to have been logged out en masse and cannot log back in.

With Facebook, 75 per cent of the respondents reporting login issues. According to metastatus.com, operated by Meta to track the status and outages of its business products, there are “major disruptions” to the Meta Admin Centre, Facebook login, WhatsApp business API (Application Programming Interface) and marketing API.

The error messages are believed to be a problem at META, in the FB login system. It is not believed to be a hack or cyber attack

FB spokesperson Andy Stone has announced on Twitter, “We’re aware people are having trouble accessing our services,” he wrote. “We are working on this now.”
