Larry Hugh Jones, 71
November 1, 1954 – May 28, 2026
Larry Hugh Jones, 71, of New Albany, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County. In keeping with Larry’s wishes, he will be cremated.
Born on November 1, 1954, in New Albany, Larry was the son of the late Thad and Flora Neal Jones. He received his education in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and was a Christian.
Larry was a man with a gentle spirit and a heart that was full of love for his family. He had a kindness about him that made people feel at ease, and his warm, infectious laugh was one that those who knew him will never forget. He found happiness in life’s simple pleasures — turning up his favorite classic rock songs, settling in to watch an old western, cheering on his beloved Seattle Seahawks, and enjoying a good home-cooked meal surrounded by those he loved. Larry treasured time spent with his family, and some of his happiest moments were simply being together, sharing laughter and making memories. His faithful canine companion, Maggie, was a constant source of comfort and companionship and held a special place in his heart.
Though Larry’s life was marked by loss, he continued to love deeply and cherish those closest to him. He will be remembered for his tender heart, his easy smile, and the love he gave so freely.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory include his five sons, Kevin Jones (Kaitlin) of Myrtle, Chris Lewis of Ripley, Blake Lewis of New Albany, Trevor Jones (Sarah) of Ripley, and Adam Jones of New Albany; his beloved grandchildren, Jayden, Avery, and Kysen Lewis, Eli Ferguson, and Karmin Beltran; his sister-in-law, Jody Jones; and his loyal companion, Maggie.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Renita Jones; his second wife, Sonya Jones; and his brothers, Phil and David Jones.
