Obituary for Larry Noel Reedy

Larry Noel Reedy, 71 passed away February 7, 2023 after an extended illness. He was loved and respected by countless numbers of people in New Albany, Union County, and surrounding areas as he ministered to them during their time of greatest need. For fifty-one years he worked as an employee, assistant manager, and manager for United Funeral Service in New Albany.

Larry was born on April 14, 1951 in Marks, Mississippi to Ernest Noel Reedy and Ernestine Green Reedy. He moved to New Albany at a young age with his family. He was a graduate of W.P. Daniel High School, Northeast Mississippi Community College, and Kentucky School of Mortuary Science where he served as Vice President of his class. He was a member of various organizations associated with his profession and in 2014 was selected as Northeast Mississippi Funeral Director of the Year. Larry was a husband to Brenda, father to Will and Laura, and “Lar” to his grandson, Garrison, whom he adored. Some of his happiest moments were spent at Smith Lake with Garrison in the captain’s seat with him driving the ski boat. Later as Garrison grew too big to share that seat, Lar relegated himself to the navigator role.

Larry is survived by his wife Brenda, son Will, daughter Laura, and grandson Garrison. He is preceded in death by his parents and his beloved in-laws WC and Clara Vance Garrison. His service will be held Friday, February 10 at 2:00 PM at United Funeral Service Chapel. Visitation will be Thursday, February 9 from 5:00 til 7:00 PM at the funeral home, and Friday one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Vista Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Larry Kirk, Mitchell Jumper, Donald Hodges, Hollis Brown, Chuck Moffatt and Benny Hogue.

Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in his honor.
