Laura Boyd, 83
January 6, 1941 — August 18, 2024
Tupelo- Laura Caldonia Dulaney Boyd was called home to Jesus on August 18, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. Laura was the daughter of Elgar and Faye Dulaney, born January 6, 1941, in Fulton, Mississippi.
Laura attended Itawamba Junior College where she was voted most beautiful. After attending Itawamba Junior College, she became a receptionist at AirCap and a seamstress, sewing cheerleading uniforms for IJC and pageant dresses for the public. She also served in management roles at the Rex Plaza, Holiday Inn Supper Club and the Executive Inn. Later she opened her boutique, “The House of Miniatures,” where she custom built doll houses.
She enjoyed preparing meals and always served them on everyday china with a glass of sweet tea. Her passion was gardening, both flowers and vegetables, feathered friends, and crocheting dishcloths which she gifted to many. After retirement, she was a private caregiver.
She was known by her grandchildren as “Nana,” and loved her children and grandchildren deeply. She always ended the conversation with “I love you dearly.” Laura had a unique skill of spotting 4-leaf clovers, which she did often. Despite her declining health, she still displayed her southern hospitality by offering a cup of coffee or sweet tea to anyone who stopped by, even her caregivers. She loved listening to Dr. David Jeremiah and Dr. Billy Graham.
Laura is survived by her three children, Danyelle Sheree Boyd Gray of Tupelo; Tina Boyd O’Quinn and her husband, Greg, of Tupelo; and Billie Vernon Boyd, Jr. and his wife, Tonya, of Guntown; ten grandchildren, Brandy Montalvo and her husband, Bill, of San Antonio, Texas, Stacy Whitten of Tupelo, Raul Cantu of Tupelo, Marcus Gray and his wife, Shelby, of Nashville, Dallas Harden of Tupelo, Winter Craig of Tupelo, Chance Harden of Georgia, Quinten Boyd and his wife, Kaitlyn, of Oxford, Brooke Carlock of Booneville, and Bowen Carlock of Guntown; and 15 great-grandchildren; lifelong friends, the Medlin family along with Charlie and Eloise Glidewell.
