Lavon Dunnam, 83

September 18, 1942 – October 15, 2025

Mary “Lavon” Dunnam, age 83, of New Albany, passed away peacefully on the 15th of October surrounded by family.

Born on September 18, 1942, to Leon Lowery Jackson and Vivian Pearl Kiddy Jackson in Flat Rock, MS. Lavon grew up alongside her siblings, Sue and Lamar. She married William “Allen” Dunnam on June 17, 1960. They built a loving family, raising two sons, Randy and Scott.

Lavon worked for many years as a beautician. She often made house calls for family and friends. Lavon had an artistic eye and loved spending time creating pottery pieces and painting. She was known for having morning coffee at home with her closest friends and making peanut butter and marshmallow cream crackers for the grands. Most of all she enjoyed being with her family.

Lavon was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Vivian Jackson; sister, Sue Dillard; brother, Lamar Jackson; her two sons, Randy and Scott Dunnam; and her grandson, Bryan Dunnam.

She is survived by her loving husband, Allen Dunnam; daughters-in-law, Tameri Dunnam

(Randy) and Laura Dunnam (Scott); grandchildren, Melissa Dunnam (Bryan), Jordan Murry (Ryan), Sam Jackson Dunnam, Olivia Dunnam, Miller Dunnam, and Elise Noland (Conner); and great-grandchildren, Lilli Dunnam, Mary Eason Murry and Will Murry. Also many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, October 17th at United Funeral Service of New Albany with Pastor Andrew Chesteen officiating. Visitation will be available at 1:00 pm and the funeral service will begin at 3:00 pm. Burial will be at Vista Memorial Park.
