New Albany MS Galloway armed and dangerous

UPDATE: 12 NOON 10-18-2019:  It is reported by the New Albany Police Department that Charles Galloway is in custody, as of about 11:00 AM this morning (Friday October 18).

Local law officers in New Albany warn residents to be on the lookout for the man in the above photograph.

His name is Charles D. Galloway, age 46. He should be considered armed and dangerous.

If anyone sees someone fitting Galloway’s description, they are urged to call the New Albany Police Department at 662-534-2222, 911, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-773-TIPS (8477). A call to Crime Stoppers could result in a cash reward if it leads to the capture of Galloway.

New Albany Police Chief Chris Robertson said Galloway attacked and briefly held captive a man on Shady Grove Road in north New Albany at about 9 a.m. Thursday morning, Oct 17.
Galloway struck the man in the head with a claw hammer and then held the victim at knife point before finally leaving the house.

Robertson said Galloway, a native of Union County, has a history of mental health issues and long record of incidents with law enforcement. He had been living with the man he attacked.

Residents should be cautious of opening their doors to people they do not know.

The man Galloway struck with the hammer was treated at the emergency room of Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County. He was not believed to have life threatening injuries.

Galloway faces charges of aggravated assault and kidnapping.

It is believed Galloway may be traveling on foot and does not have a motor vehicle.

Again, he should be considered armed and dangerous
