Lee County Takes Corona Virus Precautions

Tupelo, MS– Lee County officials have taken precautions when it comes to the threat of Corona virus.

In a meeting this morning, Friday March 13, 2020, the Board of Supervisors decided to cancel programs for seniors at the multipurpose center. This was a measure taken because the senior population is more at risk.

Lee County Chancery Clerk Bill Benson told NEMiss.news that “We are currently open for business, and making sure that necessary steps are being taken.” Benson said that the courts are open, but are not bringing in juries. The courts are also not bringing in large groups for arraignment. Instead, they are bringing in a few offenders at a time.

County officials are monitoring the situation, and will make adjustments as needed to keep the people safe.
