Leland Wade Davis, infant
July 6, 2026 – July 7, 2026
Baby Leland Wade Davis was born on Monday, July 6, 2026, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi. At just one day old, he was gently cradled into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
A private service will be held as his precious parents and loving family gather to honor his brief, yet profoundly meaningful life. They sincerely appreciate every prayer, kind thought, and expression of love shown during this difficult season.
Filled with excitement and overflowing with gratitude, Brent Wade Davis and Jessi Claire Mauney Davis received the joyful news on December 15, 2025, that they were expecting their precious son. From that very moment, Baby Leland was cherished beyond measure. The anticipation of learning he was a little boy, the celebrations with family and friends, the thoughtful gifts, and every detail lovingly prepared in his nursery were beautiful expressions of just how deeply he was loved long before he ever entered this world.
Though his earthly journey lasted only a single day, Leland’s life forever changed the hearts of those who loved him. While words cannot begin to express the depth of this loss, Brent and Jessi have found strength through their unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, trusting that the same Savior who welcomed their little boy into Heaven will faithfully sustain them until they are together again.
Throughout this journey, the Twenty-Third Psalm has been a source of peace and comfort for the family. Its timeless promise, “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want,” has gently reminded them that even in life’s darkest valleys, the Good Shepherd never abandons His children. He walks beside them, carries them through their sorrow, restores weary souls, and assures them that His goodness and mercy will follow them all the days of their lives until they are reunited with their precious son in His eternal presence.
As they continue to look toward Heaven with hope, the rainbow has become a precious reminder of God’s unfailing promises. Just as God placed the rainbow in the sky as an everlasting covenant of His faithfulness, it now serves as a gentle reminder that His promises never fail. Every rainbow speaks of hope after the storm, reminding all who loved Leland that while tears may fill today, God’s mercy is new every morning, His love remains constant, and because of Christ, this goodbye is only temporary.
In addition to his devoted parents, Leland’s memory will forever be cherished by his grandparents, Jenni and Jerry Mauney, and Angel and Joey “Tater” Davis; his great-grandparents, Joe and Marilyn Warrington, Stevie and Patsy Davis, Ricky Newby, and Mitzi Newby; his aunts and uncles, Sara Derick (David), Alison Wade (Tom), Becky Mauney, Manuel Mauney (Candace), Jared Peach, Blake Davis (Elizabeth), and Brylan Davis; his beloved doggy siblings, Dak, Sassy, and Dixie; and a host of extended family members and dear friends whose lives were touched by his.
Awaiting his arrival in Heaven were his great-great-grandparents, Lilly and Bob Wallace, Sue and Emmitt Mauney, Mary and Ron Dalrymple, and Doxey and Peggy Davis.
Though Baby Leland never spoke a word, or took a single step, his life beautifully proclaimed the faithfulness of God and the immeasurable value of every life He creates. His story is one of love, hope, and the promise of eternity. Until that glorious day when his family sees him again, Baby Leland Wade Davis will forever be loved, forever be missed, and forever remain safe in the loving arms of his Savior.
