Light, gas and water main office closed

New Albany Light, Gas and Water manager Bill Mattox announced that the administrative office on Cleveland Street, including the drive-through lane, is closed until further notice.

Some employees tested positive for coronavirus and the decision was made to protect the public and the rest of the staff.

Mattox said the plan is for the office to remain closed through the end of this week (Aug. 21).  “We hope to be in position to re-open in some capacity on Monday, Aug. 24,” he said.

Until the office reopens, Mattox asked that customers use one of three options for payments: use the on-line pay site at https://paybill.com/nalgw/, use the drop box outside the office or mail the payment in.

“While our office is closed no late fees will be assessed,” he said.

If a customer needs new service, is transferring or is discontinuing service, he or she is asked to call 534-1041 to schedule an appointment with a representative.

“We are still responding to electric outage calls, gas leaks and water/sewer issues,” he said.  “Please call 534-1041 for assistance.”

“We are very sorry for the inconvenience this causes our customers,” Mattox concluded. “Please have patience with us over the next few days.”
