The following events are scheduled in the Library for August:

August 10   National Alliance on Mental Illness

August 16   Luncheon with Books  Renelda Owen, Delta State University English Department will present a program ” Colonel W. C. Falkner as Inspiration for Colonel Sartoris in the Yoknapatawpha Saga” this presentation is part of New Albany’s Literary Event Schedule leading up to the Falkner Literary Fest the end of September.

August 19   Life Core

August 30   New Haven

Tutoring is scheduled for 17 hours in the library during the month of August.

The Jennie Stephens Smith Library had 4,390 visitors in the month of July. 75 new library cards were issued – 40 for New Albany residents, and 35 for Union County residents.

Friends of the Library is a 501 (c) (3) organization which means that any memorial or honorarium made to the Jennie Stephens Smith Friends of the Library is tax deductible. The library has received a $1000  grant from the Sara Stephens Fund of the Community Foundation of Greater Memphis and a $500 donation from the Friends of the Library. These funds are greatly appreciated and will be used for new materials for the library since budget cuts have put these purchases on hold for a few years.

The Union County Library Board has the following policy regarding the meeting room at the library. A non-profit organization may use the room free of charge any other individual or group is expected to pay a small usage fee.
