Liz Hanlon, 64

Silverhill, Alabama – Elizabeth Ellen Hanlon, 64, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 4, 2025, at Sanctuary Hospice House. She was born on September 8, 1960, in Racine, Wisconsin, and spent her informative years in Galesville, Wisconsin; Liz was the beloved daughter of Zonette Schreiner. From a young age, Liz radiated creativity, warmth, and a deep love for music and performance. She pursued her passions academically at Viterbo University and the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, where she majored in Music and Theatre.

Liz’s love for the arts remained a constant throughout her life. Whether singing, attending the theater, reading, or simply listening to her favorite songs, Liz found joy and inspiration in the world around her. She especially loved traveling, with New York City holding a special place in her heart. She also had a deep affection for being near the water and being in a boat always brought her peace and happiness.

On May 25, 1985, Liz married the love of her life, Shaun Patrick Hanlon. Over the next 40 years, they shared a life filled with laughter, love, and countless cherished memories. Together they built a home grounded in compassion, curiosity, and creativity.

Liz also dedicated herself fully to her role as a mother. She was a loving, attentive, and devoted parent, offering unwavering support, quiet strength, and boundless affection.

Professionally, Liz built a respected and successful career in radio and media advertising. Over the years, she held roles including Head Copywriter at WRVR Radio-Memphis, Sales Manager at Comcast in Tupelo, and General Manager at Cumulus Broadcasting. A talented writer, communicator, and leader, Liz made an indelible mark on every organization she was a part of. Beyond her titles, she became a trusted advisor, role model, and “mother” figure to many of her colleagues.

She is survived by her husband, Shaun Patrick Hanlon; daughter, Jessica Hanlon of La Crosse, Wisconsin; brothers, Dan Schreiner and wife, Rene, and Steve Schreiner and wife, Renee; several nieces and nephews; and Tammi Smith, who was like a sister to her.

She was preceded in death by her mother.
