Loretta Gordon, 59
September 26, 1965 – August 10, 2025
Mrs. Loretta Gordon was born on September 26, 1965, to Joe and Cora Mitchell in Calhoun County, Mississippi. She departed this earthly life on August 10, 2025, surrounded by her children at her son’s home.
She graduated from Houston High School in the class of 1985 and later completed her CNA license. Employed at Chickasaw Medical Clinic for several years later employed at Leggett and Platt until she retired.
Loretta was full of life, always making somebody laugh, and enjoyed life to the fullest. You would often find her reading, watching Lifetime Network, or cheering for those Dallas Cowboys and them Crimson Tide. She also enjoyed shopping on the HSN network and talking on the phone to Ms. Sue and Ms. Ann. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and other family members and friends whom she loved so dearly.
She was a member of the Second Baptist church. Loretta married Arthur J Gordon on March 31, 1990, and was blessed to be married for 16 years until his passing. They were the first couple to be married by Pastor Glenn Huggins.
She leaves to cherish: her three children, Laquentin Mitchell and Whitney Gordon of Houlka, MS and Arthur (Christina) Gordon of Tupelo, MS. Her 4 Grandchildren Isaac, Majesty, Arlo, And Christlyn. Her sister Patricia(David) Wright and brothers Louis Mitchell and TC(Vernessa) Gates of Houston, MS. Her adopted daughters Victoria Scharklet of Nashville, TN and Gwendolyn Suggs of Saint Louis, MO. Her brother in laws Jessie(Barbara) Gordon of Houlka, MS, Stacy(Renee) Mcshan of Beloit, Wi, and Charles Berry of Houlka, MS. Her sister in laws Janice (Ollie) Clark of Beloit, Wi, Barbara(Terry) Hurd of Pontotoc, MS, Marquita Gordon of Chicago, IL and Chandra(Sandy) Spright of New Albany, Ms. A very special young man that helped with mom in the hospital Ambassador Peyton with NMMC and her Father In law Mac Arthur Gordon of Chicago, IL. And a host of Nieces, Nephews, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur Gordon, parents Joe and Cora Mitchell, sisters Norma (M.L.) Mitchell and Mary Berry, brother in law Lawrence Mcshan MIL and FIL Mira (Charlie) Mcshan and Her paternal and maternal grandparents, Niece Valencia Eacholes and host of other dear family members.
