New Albany’s downtown has been heralded in national publications as one of the prettiest in the state and this is in no small part due to the efforts of the New Albany Main Street Association who are having a fundraiser and arts event on Friday night at The Basement, an events venue at the Trailhead. The annual Arts, Beats & Eats will feature local artists on hand selling their wares and live music from Andrew Yurkow and special guests. A twenty-dollar ticket gains admission to the event which includes wine and heavy appetizers from the Tallahatchie Gourmet. As of this writing tickets may be sold out, but even so, the music can be heard from the beautiful trailhead and it will be a great place to linger before or after a meal downtown.

The final concert of the 10-week Levitt AMP music series, sponsored by Sugaree’s Bakery, will be at the new Riverview Stage at Park Along the River on Saturday night. The show will open with the Eisenhauer Band, who’ve played New Albany a number of times of the past year, becoming a local favorite (they’ll also be playing at the Farmers’ Market on Saturday morning). The show headlines with another up and coming band from Mississippi – The Holy Ghost Electric Show who’ll come with trombones, bass drums and all sorts of musical hijinks. The Levitt AMP shows are all family-friendly, FREE and cooler and pet friendly. There is a sponsor area with wine and appetizers (sponsored by Tallahatchie Gourmet and NA Wine & Spirits) across the river. The area is set up with luxurious blankets, pillows, seating and tables and provides an excellent view of the concert.  Showtime on Saturday night is 7:30. Downtown New Albany is getting more and more attention and there are more and more things to do. It’ll certainly be the place to be this weekend.
