Louidean Ball, 83
October 30, 1941 – July 31, 2025
Tupelo- Ferrice Louidean Ball filled his 83 year earthly pilgrimage with purpose driven values of God, family , country and public service. He won the ultimate victory realizing the promises of his salvation on Thursday, July 31, 2025 from Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. Born on October 30, l941, the only child of the late Louis Ball and Opal Brown Ball of the Harmony Community of Pontotoc Co., Louidean graduated from Ecru High School in 1959 where he excelled.
With a passion for the outdoors and all God’s creation, he entered Mississippi State University to study Forestry. He received is BS Degree in Forestry from MSU and began working for the Mississippi Forestry Commission as a Regional Forester. Over 40 years later, he completed his brilliant career serving as State Forester. His 4 decades of public service included “hands on” leadership. He was always proud of the role and economic impact of forestry in the State of Mississippi. His brilliant maintenance of Mississippi’s Public Land’s and his sage wisdom and encouragement of Tree Farmer’s statewide will always be part of his strong legacy.
A longtime faithful member of West Jackson St. Baptist Church, Louie served as a deacon, a prayer warrior and Senior citizens leader, among other important roles. He first married Carole Morgan Ball, and to this union was born the “Apple of Daddy’s eye”, daughter Felecia. He and Carole’s devotion to “all things Felecia” were a top priority. They followed her through Bible drills at church to her band performances in high school. Having served many years in the Miss. National Guard including two Federal tours of duty, “daddy” was most proud when his daughter joined the Navy serving honorably until her discharge.
After Carole’s death in 2003, Louie married Nadine Jordan. Their lives were filled with travels around the USA and abroad including a memorable trip to the Holy Land where he was re-baptized in the River Jordan. Continuing his devotion to God’s children, Louie became and mentor and reader to children in the Tupelo Public School System. He was a loyal MSU Bulldog supporter and made many Saturday football games at Scott Field, a special joy of his!! Louidean lived a spiritual life guided by the teachings of Jesus and he died a redeemed, blessed and rewarded Child of God. Well Done Good and Faithful Servant.
A service honoring his journey will take place at 3 PM Sunday, August 3, 2025 at West Jackson St. Baptist Church with his pastor, Dr. Keith Cochran officiating. Private burial will follow in Lee Memorial Park on Monday. Visitation will be from 1 PM-service time on Sunday only at the Church. Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo is honored to be serving their friends.
Louidean is survived by his daughter, Felecia Ball of Tupelo; several cousins, his very close family at West Jackson St. Baptist Church and he and Nadine’s travel companions and best friends, Anita and Karl Ball. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Opal Ball and his wives, Carole and Nadine.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Vickers, Raymond Moody, Robert Magers, Connie Brown and Mike Swords. Honorary pallbearers will be Ernest Gunter and Terry Jones. The family request memorials be made to Sanctuary Hospice House, P. O. Box 2177, Tupelo, MS. 3880.
