Loyalists already plotting to undermine election result if Trump loses

It’s possible that this already unbearably long election cycle may not be over after next Tuesday. The race is neck and neck with Trump and Harris at a statistical tie in many swing states. With the race this tight, it is foreseeable that vote counting could go on for days or weeks and court challenges are also likely.

Federal law enforcement has warned that some elements may foment and carry out violence in the event that Trump loses. Before the votes are even counted, Trump and his supporters are already pushing narratives of voter fraud. In echoes of 2020, they claim that the only way Trump can lose this year is if the Democrats cheat.

Earlier this month, former Green Beret Ivan Raiklin, who has ties to Trump World, told supporters at a rally that plans are already underway for a “Stop the Steal” campaign if Trump loses the electoral college. “It’s all going to depend on what they end up doing,” Raiklin said. “I have a plan and a strategy for every single component of it. And then, January 6th is going to be pretty fun”.

Long before we even get to January 6th, Raiklin’s plan calls for state election officials and legislators to simply refuse to certify a win for Harris in their states, or to award their state’s electoral votes to Trump by default.

But there are also more direct calls for violence in various online forums. These include threats not only against election workers and public officials, but also against undocumented migrants. Law enforcement also fears that the more sophisticated and organized troublemakers may have learned lessons of 2020 and moved their planning offline, making them more difficult to track, and their movements more difficult to predict.

Report reveals school shooter family’s unsuccessful fight to prevent tragedy

In October 2022, 19-year-old Orlando Harris entered the Central Visual and Performing Arts High School in St Louis, MO, carrying an AR style rifle and almost a dozen 30-round magazines. He went on a rampage through the school, killing one teacher, Jean Kuczka, and one student, Alexzandria Bell, 15, and seriously wounding multiple others. When police arrived, a shootout ensued, and Harris died shortly after being taken into custody.

A new 456-page report from the St Louis Police detailed Harris’s history of severe mental health issues. It also documents his family’s struggle to help him and their attempts to remove firearms and ammunition from his possession.

Harris’s first two years of high school were unremarkable. Things started going downhill after Harris was out of school for a year during the pandemic. Things deteriorated even further after he graduated from CVPA in 2021.

In August of 2021, and again in summer of 2022, Harris attempted to take his own life. Harris was admitted to psychiatric facilities multiple times following each attempt and had regular contact with a therapist. After his last stint in a facility, Harris informed his mother that he would not be going back to the facility and would no longer see his therapist.

No recourse

To his family’s dismay, Harris later acquired an AR-15 and other firearms and ordered ammunition to be delivered to their home. At first, family members tried to hide the weapons and ammo from him, but this caused a dispute. Harris’s family then reached out to police, hoping they would confiscate the weapons. However, since Missouri has no red flag laws, the police could not legally confiscate the weapons, despite Harris’s well-documented mental health history.

Harris eventually comprised and offered to put the guns, tactical gear and ammunition he had acquired in a storage facility. Following the shooting, officers found that storage unit had been cleared out.

In Michigan, Virginia, and Georgia, there have been recent high-profile cases of family members being held criminally responsible for enabling their children to carry out school shootings. The case of Orlando Harris presents a stark contrast, yet the result was the same. Despite making every conceivable effort, Harris’ family were sadly unable to prevent this very foreseeable tragedy. Missouri still does not have a red flag law that would enable a judge or law enforcement to confiscate weapons in the event of imminent danger. In fact, Republican state lawmakers have introduced a bill to prevent the state from ever adopting such a law.
