Luncheon with Books to focus on the Battle of New Orleans
Luncheon with Books will be held Tuesday, May 15, at the Jennie Stephens Smith Library in New Albany.
Frank Madden will discuss Brian Kilmeade and Don Yaeger’s book Andrew Jackson and the Miracle of New Orleans: The Battle That Shaped America’s Destiny.
In the War of 1812 America was threatened on all sides. President James Madison’s generals had lost control of the war in the North. Andrew Jackson seemed to be the only one who realized that if the British controlled New Orleans and the mouth of the Mississippi an essential trade route would be cut off and dreams of westward expansion crushed. The authors make history come alive with a riveting true story of Andrew Jackson and the War of 1812.
A light lunch will be served beginning at 11:30 AM.
