Maggie Grimes, 90

September 5, 1935  –  February 10, 2026

Maggie Lou Meeks Grimes, affectionately known as Miss Maggie to many, passed away peacefully at her residence in Potts Camp, MS, on February 10, 2026, at the age of 90. Born on September 5, 1935, in Union County, MS, to the late William Clyde Meeks and Nellie Lou Riley Meeks, Maggie’s life was a testament to the enduring strength of love, family, and faith.

Maggie dedicated her life to nurturing and providing for her family as a devoted homemaker. In addition to her role at home, Maggie served her community with care and commitment as the Director of a daycare, where she touched the lives of many children and their families.

Her family was her pride and joy, sharing her warmth and love with two daughters, Barbara Rogers Rakestraw and Sarah Jane Kelly, and two sons, William A. Rogers and Jerry L. Rogers. The matriarch of a large and loving family, Maggie was blessed with nine grandchildren and several great and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense happiness and fulfillment.

Maggie was the cherished sister of Nellie Owens and Mary Myers, as well as her brothers, Billy Joe Rodgers and Jacky Rodgers. Her life was also enriched by the companionship of two special friends, Marjorie Jarrett and Kathryn Polson, with whom many precious moments were shared.

She found joy in simple pleasures, diligently tending to her garden, delighting in the quiet patience of fishing, and spending many hours sewing and creating lovely pieces for her beloved family.

Maggie embraced life with enthusiasm and a sense of adventure. She took great pleasure in her occasional trips to Tunica, where she reveled in the vibrant atmosphere and the excitement of new experiences. Her kindness, humor, and loving nature were the hallmarks of her personality, and these traits were evident in the countless conversations she delighted in during her cherished phone calls with friends and family.

She will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known her.
