Malcolm Vernon Wilson, known to many simply as Malcolm, passed away on September 21, 2026, at his residence in Memphis, Tennessee, at the age of 61.

Born on September 3, 1965, in Memphis, Tennessee, Malcolm lived his life with a quiet strength, a generous spirit, and a deep devotion to the people around him. He was the son of the late Clyde Wilson and Julia Ford Wilson, and he was also preceded in death by his sister, Marla Harshberger. He is survived by his mother, Julia Wilson; his son, Jacob Wilson and Brittany; his sister, Sherri Tyer; his two nieces, Tasha Maxey (Shawn) and Dixie Tyer; and their children Amber and Riley Kirk, Bryce Dungan and Chandler Jones (Harley) and Chandler’s daughter Lainey Rae. His family and friends will remember him as a loving, kind, and selfless man whose presence brought comfort and steadiness to those who knew him best.

Malcolm attended William R. Moore School of Technology, where he studied HVAC and prepared for a career that would become a meaningful part of his life. He went on to work in HVAC for the City of Memphis for 20 years, serving faithfully and building a reputation for dependability and hard work. Through his years of service, he contributed to the community in a practical and lasting way, and he took pride in doing his job well.

Outside of work, Malcolm was known for the many gifts and interests that made him unique. In his younger years, he was a talented basketball player at West Union High School, where his skill and competitive spirit were admired by those who watched him play. He also enjoyed music and, as a young man, played the drums in a band with his friends, creating memories that remained close to his heart throughout his life. These interests reflected his energy, his creativity, and the joy he found in sharing time with others.

Malcolm was especially known for his compassion toward those in need. He was a deeply private man when it came to his generosity, never seeking recognition for the good he did. Yet many in Memphis were touched by his quiet acts of kindness, often seeing him filling baskets with groceries for the homeless and needy. His bright orange Jeep became a familiar sight and, for many, the only visible sign of the generosity that defined him. He gave freely and sincerely, always with humility and without expectation of praise.

Those who knew Malcolm will remember his gentle nature, his loyalty to family, and the way he cared for others in both ordinary and extraordinary ways. He lived with a giving heart and a steady presence that left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to cross his path. His life was a testament to kindness, compassion, and the quiet power of selfless service.

Malcolm Vernon Wilson will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends, and all whose lives were made better by knowing him. His memory will remain a source of comfort and inspiration to those who carry forward the example he set through his life.

A visitation will be held at United Funeral Service on Monday, September 28, 2026 from10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. A graveside service will follow at 12:00 p.m. at Cornersville Cemetery. Dr. Jeff Lawrence will officiate.
