Marion Lynn Fitts, 85

April 12, 1939 – May 31, 2024

Marion Lynn Fitts, 85, passed away Friday, May 31, 2024, at NMMC in Tupelo, MS, after an extended illness. He was born April 12, 1939, in Pontotoc County, MS, to Otis and Vera Rea Fitts. Lynn graduated from Algoma High School in Pontotoc County, where he was Valedictorian. He then graduated Itawamba Community College. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1957, proudly serving his country. Lynn was a good man that loved his Lord, his family, and his country. He was a devout Christian who trusted in the Lord in all things. He was a member of Mt. Olivet Church where he taught Bible Study and Sunday School. He also served as the Financial Secretary and Chairman of Deacons. He was very active in his church.
Lynn worked in transportation the majority of his life starting on the docks at Gordons Transport in Kansas City. When the weather turned bitterly cold, he transitioned into an office position and moved with Gordons to Memphis, TN. He later moved to New Albany and became Traffic Manager at Merchants Truck Lines. After that, Consolidated Freightways in Tupelo opened an office and hired him as Terminal Manager. His last job was at Saia Motor Freight as Terminal Manager retiring from there due to his health declining after a severe heart attack.
Lynn loved to travel along side his loving wife, he enjoyed working in the woods on his property, gardening, and raising vegetables and giving them away.
Lynn is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Shirley Yarbrough Fitts; his sons, Danny Fitts (Angie), Mark Chism, Larry Fitts, and Marty Fitts (Warren); his brothers, Dempsey Fitts (Barbara), Cecil Fitts (Martha), and Mark Fitts (Susan); his grandchildren, Jennifer Roberts, Ashley Lineberry, Adam Fitts, Anna Kathryn Fitts, Trevor Fitts, Nathan Fitts, Claylee Stanford, Austin Fitts, Richard Fitts, Ellie Fitts, and J.D. Chism; great-grandchildren, Kyler Roberts, Hudson Lineberry, Cason Fitts, Ryder Lineberry, Rhett Fitts, Archie Fitts, Lucy Fitts, Ollie Fitts, and Baker Fitts, as well as many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Coy Fitts; daughter, Gina Fitts Crumpton; sisters, Gerri Bull and Kay Thompson.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 4, 2024, from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM at United Funeral Service.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at 11:00 AM at United Funeral Service, with a graveside following at Oak Forrest Cemetery, in Pontotoc, MS.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Fitts, Phillip Fitts, David Thompson, Richard Fitts, Dale Fitts, and Colin Fitts. Honorary pallbearers will be all grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. American Legion Post 72 will conduct Military Honors.
