Birmingham Ridge – Mrs. Marjory Sheffield Grissom, age 94, died Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Sanctuary Hospice in Tupelo. She was born on July, 22, 1931, to the late Trenton and Lura McKinney Sheffield in Mooreville. Marjory passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, faith, and love for her family and friends. Upon graduating high school she went to work as a telephone operator employed by Bellsouth (AT & T) and later moved into the business office and finally management before retiring from a 30 years plus career. She married Jerry Grissom March 23, 1979 and they made their home in the Tupelo area. She was a devoted member of Belden Baptist Church and lived a life grounded in faith and community. Marjory enjoyed spending time outdoors and had a deep appreciation for nature. Her favorite activities included golf, water skiing, gardening, and tending to her beautiful flowers. She also loved traveling out West, where she enjoyed the scenery and adventure. She will be remembered for her warm spirit, her love of the outdoors, and the joy she brought to those who knew her. Marjory’s life touched many, and she will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and church community.
A service celebrating her life will take place at 2 PM Sunday, March 8, 2026, in the Sadie Holland Memorial Chapel at Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo Chapel with Rev. Dr. David Hamilton officiating. A family graveside service will follow in Boguefala Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 PM until service time Sunday March 8th at Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo. She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Jerry Grissom of Birmingham Ridge; son, John Kevin Grissom(Priscilla) of Olathe, KS; daughter, Cindy Grissom Wood of Tupelo; grandchildren, Dylan Wood(Marianne) of Jacksonville, FL, Brandon Wood (Cassie Ray) of Dallas, TX, and Kyler Grissom of D’Iberville, MS; brothers, Jimmy Sheffield of Mooreville, and Jerry Sheffield(Pat) of Atlanta, GA.; sister in law, Nancy Shackelford(Joe) of Hatley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Trenton and Lura Sheffield; and 2 brothers, Bill and L.D. Sheffield.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Grissom, Brandon Wood, Kyler Grissom, James Burney, Joe Shackelford, and Judd Culver.
