Martha Jane Fryar, 78
October 27, 1946 – January 18, 2025
Martha Jane Fryar, beloved mother, wife and grandmother, passed away on January 18, 2025. On October 27, 1946, Roy Ervon and Irene Daniel Hodges brought the blonde-haired, blue-eyed child they had anxiously awaited into the world. Martha Jane was their only child. Martha Jane married her high school sweetheart Richard Fryar. Together for 60 years they faced many challenges but none more daunting than raising three strong-willed children.
Martha Jane is remembered by her beloved children Vonia Stasko and her husband Steven Jarvis, Rebecca Stevens and her husband Lynn Stevens, and William Fryar and his wife Tanya Fryar.
Martha Jane was only better at one thing than mothering her children, and that was being a grandmother. The three grandchildren cherished her she adored, Chase Fryar, Kirk Fryar, and Miranda Stevens, along with seven step-grandchildren David Stasko and Jennifer Wilson, Dr. Wade Stevens, Amye Stevens, and Teri Maurer, and Olivia Lemmons and Amelia Jimenez. Martha Jane was a proud great-grandmother to six great-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren: Parker Fryar and Nash Fryar, Adalyn Fryar, Harley Jane Fryar, Maggie Fryar, Lucas Rinehart, Trey Stevens, Hunter Stevens, and Bo Stevens, Zoe Stevens and Hazell Matlock, Cory Maurer and Madalyn Maurer. This impressive family tree, consisting of both blood ties and bonds formed in the heart, is a picture of how Martha Jane’s legacy of love and strength will live on for generations.
She never faltered in caring for her loved ones more than she did for herself. Her life served as a testament to her belief in Christ and love of family.
Services for Martha Jane will take place on January 22, 2025, at 2:00 PM at United Funeral Home in New Albany, MS. Those wishing to pay their respects and celebrate her life are welcomed to visitation on January 21, 2025 from 5pm until 9pm.
