Martha Wise, 86
July 2, 1939 – July 20, 2025
Martha Bishop Wise departed this earth unto her heavenly home Sunday morning July 20th. She was born July 2nd 1939 in Tippah County, Ms. She was a 1957 graduate of Tippah-Union High School where she enjoyed playing basketball.
She worked in various places in New Albany during her working career before starting Martha’s Studio in 1978. She enjoyed a variety of activities throughout her life; cooking, family travel, dress making, quilting, baby sitting, watching the Atlanta Braves, and being a member of Bethany Primitive Baptist Church.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, Earnest and Idell Bishop, three sisters, Toi Simpson, Hazel Cooper, Ruth Hearn, three brothers, Noverta Bishop, David Bishop, Malcolm Bishop.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years Lamar Wise, 5 children , Robert (Pat) Carlisle of Ingomar, Kathy Carlisle of New Albany, Dawn (Michael) Johnson of Hernando, Rusty (Tammie) of Tupelo, Tara Spaulding of Cordova, Tn., one sister Sarah ( Ricky) Adair of Cotton Plant, three brothers, Tom Bishop of Myrtle, Don (Nancy) Bishop of Saltillo, and Bill (Janie) Bishop of Myrtle, one sister in-law Shelby Bishop of Etta. Eight grandchildren, Christopher (Bubba) Carlisle, Nikki Denton, Kayla Labarrene , Samantha Foster, Darryl Scallorn, Kelsey Branstetter, Jessica Cagle, Victoria Wise. Sixteen great grandchildren. Wesley Carlisle, Jordan Hendrix, Kilynn Carlisle Smith, Kyndall Carlisle, Newt Carlisle. Trenton Morris, Destini Morris, Eon Morris, Alivia Labarrene, Hailley Scallorn. Allysa Scallorn, Emily Kramer, Madelyn Kramer, Fischer Horton, Olivia Cagle, Cooper Cagle. Two very special friends Marie Bailey, Glendora Roberts, and a host of church family, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be held at the United Funeral Home Chapel in New Albany. Visitation will be Tuesday July 22 from 2-4, followed by the funeral service at 4:00p.m. Brother Don Bishop and Bro. Rusty Wise to conduct the services. There will be no graveside services.
Pallbearers will be Christopher (Bubba) Carlisle, Matt Bishop, Carrey Adair, Chris Bishop, Lane Bishop, Jeremy Bishop and Terry Gaines.
Interment will be at the New Harmony Cemetery.
