TUPELO / KNOXVILLE, TN – Mary Anne Murff died Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at The Manor in Tupelo. She was 88 years old. The daughter of C. G. Murff and Mary Samantha Reedy Murff, Mary Anne was born in Feb. 23, 1936 in Tupelo. She graduated from Tupelo High School in 1954. Her working career spanned many years and included service as Executive Secretary for the Chancellor of the University of Alabama for many years. Moving to Knoxville where she lived until moving to Tupelo about 2 1/2 years ago, she was an Administrative Secretary for Baptist Hospital in Knoxville. Mary Anne was a very intelligent yet quiet lady. She loved her poodles and yorkies which were like children to her. In 2022, as her health declined, she moved to The Manor on Lawndale (Avon Lea) where she made many friends and enjoyed her last days. She was a longtime member of the Baptist Church in Knoxville.
A graveside service will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 in the Unity Presbyterian Church Cemetery east of Plantersville with Rev. Dr. John Armistead officiating. Holland Funeral Directors – Tupelo Chapel is honored to serve their friends. (662 840 5000)
Mary was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Murff, and father, C.G. Murff; brother Robert W. Reedy, and sister, Leanne Reedy.
Mary is survived by her nephews, Bobby Joe Reedy (Jan), and Mac Reedy all of Tupelo; great-nephew, Scotty Reedy, and great-niece, Anna Kathryn Cohea; and great-great-nephew, Tucker Cohea, and great-great-niece, Kate Cohea; and her dearest life long friends from Knoxville, Edith Gable, Ida Tuggle and Marissa Collins.
