Mary E. Price Austin, 98

April 10, 1926 – January 31, 2025

Mary Ella Austin, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, and friend, was called to her eternal rest on January 31, 2025, at the age of 98. Mary was born on April 10, 1926, to the late Tommie and Josephine Price in Baldwyn, MS. Mary lived a life full of love, devotion, and grace, touching the lives of all who knew her.



Mary professed her hope in Christ at an early age. She was a faithful member of Mount Zion Community Church in Guntown, MS. Her deep faith and commitment to her Christian beliefs shaped every aspect of her life. Mary found strength in her relationship with the Lord, and her unwavering trust in Him was a guiding light for her family and friends. She was an active participant in her church community, always willing to lend a hand and offer words of encouragement to those around her.

She was joined in holy matrimony to the late Percy Goodloe, Sr. To this union was born 5 children: Percy Goodloe, Jr., Hattie (late Andrew) Dilworth, Michael (Phyllis) Goodloe, Jacqueline (Alvin) Pollard, and was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Goodloe. Mary’s family was the heart of her life, and she was a constant source of strength, wisdom, and unconditional love to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her nurturing spirit and kind heart will live on in the many generations that carry her memory.

Throughout her long and remarkable life, Mary witnessed incredible changes in the world, and she faced each moment with resilience and optimism. She was known for her quick whit, her love of storytelling, and her ability to make those around her feel seen and valued. Her compassion extended beyond her family, and she touched many lives through her involvement in her church and community.

Mary Austin leaves to cherish her memories (2) sons; Percy Goodloe of Cherokee, AL and Michael Goodloe of Valdosta, GA, (2) daughters; Hattie Dilworth of Baldwyn, MS and Jacqueline Pollard of Verona, MS, 13 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, and a host of family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, 1 sister, and 1 son.
