Mary Evelyn Patton, 88

November 30, 1936 – January 8, 2025

TUPELO – A dear soul, wife, mother and MaMa lived a purpose-filled life and met her Savior and family gone before on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, from North Miss. Medical Center in Tupelo. Mary Evelyn Christian Patton was 88 years old. Born in Prentiss County on November 30, 1936, to the late William Davis Christian and Thesle Lowery Christian, she graduated from Thrasher High School. Mary Evelyn married Dorn Olon Patton on July 27, 1956, a marriage of 68 years until his death on October 9, 2024. Early in her life, she made a career of working for several area pharmacies as a technician where she endeared herself to hundreds of patrons. Later in life, she was honored to be called a Master Homemaker where she was never without a good meal prepared for family and friends. Her home was always immaculate. She attended Skyline Church of Christ and was an an avid Bible reader. Mary Evelyn was a strong, independent lady whose life touched others in special ways.

A private family service will be held. Burial will take place at Zion Rest Church of Christ Cemetery. Holland Funeral Directors is honored to serve the family.

Mary Evelyn Patton is survived by her children, Sandra Blackley of Tupelo and Pam Pitts (Dennis) of Olive Branch, MS; grandchildren, Barry Welford (Nancy) of Los Angeles, CA, Jenna Scruggs (Dustin) of Hernando, and Patton Gunter (Melissa) of Fort Deposit, AL; great-grandchildren, Taylor Chandler, Little Barry, Kaytlen and Nancy Welford, Shelby and Raegan Scruggs; her brother, Bobby Christian; her sister, Judy Rowland (Jerry); and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dorn Olon Patton; her parents, William and Thesle Christian; and her sister, Willa Dale Steadman.
