Mary Hall, 92

September 7, 1932 – June 9, 2025

Mary Vivian Moody Hall, a beacon of love and faith, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2025, at the Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, MS. Born on September 7, 1932, in Union County, MS, Mary’s life was a testament to the power of kindness and devotion.

Mary, affectionately known by all who loved her as a dedicated homemaker, spent her life nurturing her family with unwavering love and care. She was the cherished wife of the late Charles H. Hall, and together they built a legacy of love and family that will endure through the generations. Mary was the proud mother of three sons, Harrison Hall (Cathy), Ray Hall (Rita), and Wayne Hall (Shonya). Her joy was multiplied as she became the grandmother to eight grandchildren: Amanda Decanter (Jeno), Kelli Gates (Earnie), Brandy Cooper (Jessie), Chris Hall (Alissa), Hillary Luna (Victor) and Katie Hale (C.J.), Drew McGuire (Rebecca) and Cayla Burns; sixteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, each of whom she loved deeply.

The daughter of the late Webster Omeria “Web” Moody and Zora Lee Grubbs Moody, Mary was the last surviving sibling of five brothers; James Moody, Joe Moody, Lamar Moody, Hubert Moody and Dwight Moody and two sisters: Marjorie White and Peggy Robertson, all of whom predeceased her. She also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews that she loved with all her heart. Her family roots were a source of great pride and provided a strong foundation for the values she instilled in her own family.

Mary’s interests reflected her nurturing spirit. She found great joy in babysitting, not only as a way to support other families but also to spread the love that seemed to come so naturally to her. Her faith was the cornerstone of her existence, and she found solace and strength in listening to her Bible tapes, preaching, and gospel music. These practices were not only a source of personal comfort but also a way for her to share her faith with those around her.

Those who knew Mary would describe her as loving, kind, and faith-filled. Her life was a living example of these virtues. She had a special bond with each of her sons, but everyone knew that Wayne was her “baby.”

Mary’s legacy is not marked by material possessions or accolades but by the love she gave and the faith she shared. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive in the hearts of all who were touched by her gentle spirit and unwavering kindness.
