May 21, 1931 – August 17, 2025
Palmetto Community-Mary Lee Lambert Sides left this world for her eternal home from Sanctuary Hospice House on Sunday afternoon, August 17, 2025 after a long, fruitful life of 94 years. Mary Lee Lambert was born on May 21, 1931 in Palmetto, the only child of the late Henry Thomas “Tom” Lambert and Leora Studdard Lambert. She spent most of her life in the Palmetto community-a place she loved, supported and encouraged the whole of her life. On January 28, l961, she married Lindon Ben “L.B.” Sides, a marriage of 54 years until his death on August 29, 2015. To this union was born two daughters, Teresa and Alisa. A lady of dignity, Mary Lee lived what could be considered a charmed life being doted on by her parents, husband, children and grandchildren. She was long on conversation and enduring in her passionate love and concern for her family, friends and, particularly her beloved neighbors in Palmetto. Her working career included over 25 years as a Bookkeeper for High Insurance and later, Insurance and Financial Managers of Tupelo. Smart and well read, Mary Lee enjoyed reading, cooking and sewing. She graduated from Verona High School and furthered her education at the newly built Itawamba Junior College. She was a lifelong faithful and active member of the Palmetto Methodist Church where she was loved and respected and was the oldest member at her death. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A private burial was held on Monday in the Palmetto Cemetery. The family will receive friends at a reception at Palmetto Methodist Church, 506 Palmetto Road, Tupelo, Ms. 38801 on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 from 4 PM-7PM. Mary Lee always had a sweet tooth so desserts will be served. Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo is honored to be serving their longtime friends.
