Mary Melrose Roberson, 92

December 1, 1931 – September 7, 2024

Mary ‘Melrose’ Roberson passed away September 7, 2024, at the age of 92 at her home in Ripley (Gravestown), MS.



Funeral Services honoring Mrs. Melrose’s life will be at 2PM Monday September 9, 2024, in the Heritage Chapel of the Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Winston Smith and Minister King McCarver officiating. Visitation will be from 11 am until time of service on Monday September 9, 2024, at Ripley Funeral Home. Graveside service will follow in Beech Hill Church of Christ Cemetery.

She was born December 1, 1931, to Linyard and Earon Childers Graves in Tippah County, MS. Melrose was a member of the Beech Hill Church of Christ. She loved attending all services until her health kept her from attending. For 40 years, Melrose operated a beauty shop at her home so that she could be there with her children.

She was called ‘Granny Melrose’ by her family. She loved being with her children and grandchildren, and loved cooking their favorites, chicken & dumplings, fried pies, and chocolate cake. She really enjoyed mowing her yard, and it was a tragic day when she was grounded from her mower!

Melrose is survived by her daughter: Brenda Hobson (Barry) of Ripley, a son Randy Roberson (Kaye) of Ripley; five grandchildren: Chris Hobson (Katie), David Hobson (Laurie), Lori Russell (Bobby), all of Ripley: Lauren Muse (Jimmy) of Nesbit, MS: Earon Reed (Christian) of Ripley: 12 Greatgrandchildren; 4 Great-Great Grandchildren & 1 on-the-way!

Melrose was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Roberson; her son, Grey Roberson; One brother, J. W. Graves; Two sisters, Pat Martin & Shirley Webster.

The Family would like to thank her wonderful caregivers: Gwen Evans, Shanekia Tucker, Erica Hampton, & Katherine Gibbs.

Pallbearers are Chris Hobson, David Hobson, Bobby Russell, Christian Reed, Jimmy Muse, Aleck Hobson, Reed Mitchell, Luke Hobson, Raif Hobson and Patrick Muse.
