Mary Miller Jones, 79
December 8, 1945 – April 1, 2025
TUPELO – Mary Joyce Miller Jones died Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at her residence in Tupelo. She was 79 years old. Known as “Squeeky” and “Cousin,” Mary was born on December 8, 1945, to the late Georgia Sanders and Nathaniel Miller. She accepted Christ at an early age at a little church back in the woods called the Hammocks, which later became New Salem. She became a member of New Bethel under the leadership of Pastor Jack Shelton. She married the late Robert L. Jones and unto this union five children were born. Mary loved the Lord our God and was saved indeed. Things I know that were done by our sweet mother through the years: She took in strangers in their time of need, fed all in the neighborhood who were needing food for the body. She worked for Romie’s Grocery for a number of years then retired. She was a hard worker and a fast walker.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at the Temple of Compassion and Deliverance in Tupelo with Bishop Jack Shelton officiating. Visitation will be from 11 AM to service time at the church. Private burial will take place at Porter’s Memorial Garden. Holland Funeral Directors – Tupelo Chapel is honored to serve their friends.
She leaves to cherish her passing, her children, Lynn Miller, Teresa Heard (Jerome), Mike Jones, and Ricky Jones, all of Tupelo; her siblings, Deloise Crump, Nathaniel Miller, Jr., Birdie Kirk, Dianne Thornton of Pontotoc, MS, John Miller of Los Angeles, CA, Susan Pierce (Lee) of Nettleton, MS, Vivian Freeman (Jeffrey), Andre Sanders (Angela), Robert Miller (Shelia) of Verona, MS, Jessie Dean Miller of Memphis, TN, and Bobby Miller (Cathy) of Okolona, MS; and a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents; stepmother, Magnolia Miller; one son, Kerry Jones; one grandson, Jivani Agnew; her husband, Robert Jones; and six sisters.
The family of Mary Jones would like to thank everyone for their prayers, kind thoughts, and support during this difficult time. We ask that you keep us in your prayers as we travel the days ahead. God bless each of you.
