Matt Phipps, 54

Tupelo—Robert Matthew Phipps passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was 54 years old. Matt was born September 28, 1970 in Tupelo, the son of John S. Phipps Sr. and Brenda Loveless Phipps. After graduating from Tupelo High School, he began his working career at Tupelo Water and Light. He later worked in maintenance for North Mississippi Medical Center and then at Maloney’s Glass as an installer. Matt attended Bethel Baptist Church in Pontotoc. He was an avid fan of Ole Miss Sports and enjoyed tinkering on anything in need of repair.

Matt leaves behind two children, Weston and Karson Phipps; his brother, Spencer Phipps (Amy); nephews, Drew Phipps (Savannah), Colton Phipps (Natalie), and Caden Phipps; special friend, Heather Brasel; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Brenda Phipps; grandparents, Jack and Nancy Phipps and Dempsey and Ruth Loveless; cousin, Philip Phipps; and two aunts, Beverly Carroll and Bridgett Newcomb.

Matt’s family will honor his memory with a private memorial service at the Jefferson Street Chapel of Pegues Funeral Directors with Jerry Grammer officiating.
