Matthew Owen “Matt” Moore, 47

August 2, 1977 – July 21, 2025

Matthew Owen Moore, affectionately known as Matt to most and “Turtle” by his work family, departed this life peacefully on Monday afternoon, July 21, 2025, in the comfort of his home following a brief illness.

Funeral Service honoring Matt’s life will be 2 PM, Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at Tiplersville Baptist Church, with visitation from 12 Noon until service time. His nephew, John Andrews, will share the obituary and personal reflections, and his pastor, Bro. Titus Mathis, will offer words of comfort. Burial will follow in the Tiplersville Cemetery with a graveside service.

Born August 2, 1977, Matt is the son of Mrs. Carolyn Crum Moore and the late Owen Moore. A 1995 graduate of Walnut High School, he spent 21 years with Ashley Furniture, where he worked hard, stayed humble, and formed friendships that became like family. On February 14, 2015, he married the love of his life, Mrs. Vicky Crum Moore, who survives.

A Christian, Matt grew up at Tiplersville Baptist Church where he was saved and baptized at a young age, then later began attending church with his wife at New Covenant Christian Assembly.

Matt was a lifelong resident of Tiplersville and a man who found joy in life’s simple, ordinary kindnesses—the kind that matter most. He wasn’t one to seek recognition, yet he was always there when needed: checking on his mother daily, taking out the trash for a dear aunt, running errands for neighbors, or lending a hand before anyone thought to ask. To his nieces and nephews, he was the fun uncle—up for board games, laughs, and showing up for the moments that mattered most.

Though we grieve, we do not grieve without hope. Matt has entered the presence of the one he trusted, and the kindness he gave so freely here lives on in all of us.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Vicky Crum Moore, his son, Jared Skinner, his mother, Carolyn Moore, sisters, Tina Wegmann (Byron), and Amy Glissen (Donnie), in laws, Gary and Beady Crum, sister in laws, Teresa Welborn (Tony), and Tonya Newman (Brent), nieces, Emily Glissen, Anna Polk (Dustin), Lily Wegmann, Erin Andrews (John), Ali Newman (Daven), Anzley Newman, and Harleigh Newman, nephews, Eli Glissen (Lauren), Holden Newman, and Trevor Welborn, a great niece, Etta Andrews, and a great nephew, Marshall Glissen.

In addition to his father, Owen Moore, he is preceded in death by one sister, Jackie Moore, a great niece and namesake, Mattie Bea Andrews, his grandparents, aunts, and uncles.

The family would like to express a special thanks to Dr. Troy Cappleman and his staff, Dr. Mandar Jagtap and his staff, Arden Hospice, Nurse Courtney, and Duncan’s Pharmacy. Their commitment, love, and care was greatly appreciated.

Memorials can be made to the MB’s Mission with Pleasant Hill Baptist Church at 61 County Road 247, Tiplersville MS, 38674, or to David Horton for the Tiplersville Cemetery Fund.
