NA Middle School creates ‘Bulldog Brags’ to celebrate accomplishments

New Albany Middle School’s Counselor Advisory Committee, led by school counselor Julie Newton and made up of several teachers, recently created a “Bulldog Brags” wall.

On it, the accomplishments of students and teachers are recognized. Several students already have a place on the wall as a part of the ongoing Good Character Program.

The goal of the program is for teachers to actively seek out opportunities to build positive relationships with students by recognizing them for their positive behavior. When students are recognized by us for their good behaviors, those behaviors become a part of who they are as they mature.

The Advisory Committee realizes how easy it is to get caught up in the planning and teaching of the day that sometimes students’ recognition is forgotten. Not only for academic achievements, but also everyday kindnesses and good behavior.
