Mississippi death toll climbs today
The Mississippi State Department of Health updated Mississippi’s coronavirus death toll this evening.
As of 6:15 PM on Wednesday March 25, the Mississippi death toll stands at 5.
Earlier today the third person to die in Mississippi of Covid-19 was a male 65-70 years old from Webster County, with underlying health conditions. He died while hospitalized. The two most recent cases were a Wilkinson County male 85-90 years old with underlying conditions. He died while hospitalized. Also, a Tunica county female 75-80 years of age died in a long-term care facility.
Additional deaths have been reported in Hancock, Holmes and Webster counties. Current positive cases stand at 377, according to the health department website. The website is updated daily at approximately 10:00 AM.
The CDC today reported that nationwide statistics had climbed steeply from yesterday. As of noon today, they reported 54,453 positive cases and 737 deaths. This is up from yesterday’s totals of 44,183 cases and 544 deaths.
