Monday evening accident sends one to hospital
According to New Albany Deputy Fire Chief Mark Whiteside, New Albany Police Department and Fire/Rescue responded to a two vehicle motor vehicle accident with entrapment Monday evening Jan. 6th, at the intersection of West Bankhead and Munsford.
Upon arrival, one vehicle was found with heavy front end damage and the occupant already out of the vehicle.
The second vehicle, an SUV, was found on its driver side, with what appeared to be damage to the passenger side. The driver was still inside the vehicle.
“With the concern of it rolling on over to its top, we concentrated on stabilizing the vehicle so it would not move. We then cut the windshield, and a Baptist Memorial Hospital Paramedic/Supervisor spoke with the driver, who was assisted out of the SUV,” said Whiteside.
One person was transported to Baptist-Union County Hospital with what appeared at the time to be non-life threatening injuries.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation by New Albany Police officers.
