Monika B. Grissom, 64
February 5, 1961 – August 4, 2025
Monika B. Grissom, age 64, fought the good fight, finished her race, and kept the faith as she peacefully entered her heavenly home on Monday, August 4, 2025, at her residence, surrounded by the unwavering love of her family.
A service celebrating the life of Mrs. Monika will be held at 1 PM on Friday, August 8, 2025, in the Heritage Chapel of the Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Doc Shelton officiating. Visitation will be from 11 AM until the time of service.
Born on February 5, 1961, in West Germany, Monika was the cherished daughter of the late Ann Bust. She received her education in Germany before making her way to the United States, where she would build a beautiful life and marry her beloved husband, Roy Woodrow Grissom, who preceded her in death. Monika worked tirelessly throughout her life in the fast food industry, faithfully serving customers and forming lifelong friendships through her time with Wendy’s and Arby’s. She took great pride in providing for her family and never shied away from hard work.
A devoted Christian, Monika was a vibrant spirit who lived life with boldness and joy. Her laughter was infectious, and she never missed an opportunity to play a good-natured prank or dance around the room when one of her favorite songs played. She had a playful soul and a heart full of kindness. Even in quiet moments, she found peace in the simple pleasures—crocheting in her chair or watching episodes of Saved by the Bell and Baywatch, shows that brought her joy and comfort.
Monika was the type of person who loved deeply and gave generously. Her heart was larger than life, and she had an uncanny ability to make everyone feel welcome, seen, and loved. Whether you were family or friend, she made you feel like you belonged.
Her legacy is one of strength, laughter, compassion, and unwavering love—a woman who gave her all to those she loved and remained faithful to the end. As we mourn her passing, we take comfort in knowing that Monika now rests in the arms of her Savior, fully healed and completely at peace.
Those left to carry on her memory includes her daughter, Jennifer Marie Grissom Smith (James), two sons, Christopher Wayne and David Roy Grissom, her grandchildren, Monika Wigley, Celia Blasingame (Trenton Smith), Dawson Price, Johnny Lee “JJ Smith, Jr., Christine Overton (Jamie Holmes), Paisley Hope Grissom, and Jacob Grissom, and one great grandchild, Faith Wigley.
She is preceded in death by her husband and mother, along with her grandchildren, Tristan Marie Nutt, Joshua Odell, and Opel Grissom, and a great grandchild, Ash-Lynn Blasingame.
