MS Covid-19 update 2APR20: 3 0f 4 deaths in Northeast MS
About the case count: The MS Department of Health currently updates its map and statistics each morning with test results from the previous day that were reported by 6:00 PM that day. Outside laboratories also report positive test results, which are included the totals. County case numbers and deaths may change as investigation finds new or additional information.
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) reports about noon daily, using statistics through 4:00 PM the previous day.
Mississippi statistics
The Mississippi State Department of Health reports 104 new confirmed cases of coronavirus, with 4 additional deaths. This brings Mississippi’s total to 1177 confirmed cases and 26 deaths. Four new deaths have also been confirmed, in Chickasaw, Jackson, Marshall and Monroe counties. Wayne County is reporting its first coronavirus case. . Of the 1177 confirmed cases, 30.6% are hospitalized cases and 18 (7.7%) of those are below the age of 40.
Reminder: State officials currently have Lauderdale County under a “shelter in place” order, and there is an Executive Order that will put the entire state under a “shelter-in-place’ requirement as of 5:00 PM Friday April 3rd. (see link at end of story).

- Total US cases: 186,101
- Total US deaths: 3603
The CDC reminds that there is a domestic travel advisory in place for New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.

As of 11:15 AM Thursday April 2, 2020, the Johns Hopkins Covid-19 Worldwide Tracker Project reported 217,263 confirmed cases in the US.
The World-O-Meter tracker reports 10,265 total recovered cases in the US as of 11:15 AM this morning.
Total active cases and deaths reported in Northeast MS area by county:
Newly confirmed cases were reported in Benton, Calhoun, Clay, Lafayette, Marshall, Monroe , Pontotoc, Tippah and Union counties,
Three new deaths were reported in the area in Chickasaw, Marshall and Monroe counties. This means that 3 of the 4 new Mississippi deaths were in the Northeast Mississippi area.
Long term care facilities in Calhoun, Chickasaw, Prentiss and Union county report positive cases.
