MS Covid -19 update for April 6, 2020: Lee Co. has second death

About the case count: The MS Department of Health currently updates its map and statistics each morning with test results from  the previous day that were reported by 6:00 PM that day. Outside laboratories also report positive test results, which are included the totals. County case numbers and deaths may change as investigation finds new or additional information.

Mississippi statistics

For April 6, 2020: his morning MSDH is reporting 100 new cases of COVID-19 in Mississippi and eight new deaths. Coronavirus cases have also been identified in three more long-term care facilities across the state. The total of Mississippi’s cases since March 11 now stands at 1,738, with 51 deaths.

These figures through yesterday include 44 positive cases under age 18  The state’s  hospitalization rate  is 29%. There are 25 hospitalized patients under age 40.
