Museum Moments to feature book on Cactus Jack Carlisle
Museum Moments at the Union County Heritage Museum in New Albany on Thursday, March 15, will feature the author and the principal character of the book “Cactus Jack: Against All Odds.”
This interesting story will be told by writer Walter D. Hubbard of New Albany, with an appearance by the main character of his book, his father-in-law, Jack Carlisle. Carlisle, also of New Albany, is a winning coach with a tremendous amount of grit and determination. Selection to the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame is only one of the many honors he accumulated during his career as a teacher and coach.
The story is about Coach Carlisle’s distinguished 61 year teaching career, his Mississippi high school football record of 262-70 and 17, as well as the “number of hearts he changed along the way.“ Stories and testimonials illustrate how players took their sweat equity with them long after old-school football.
The public is invited. A light lunch provided by New Albany Garden Club will be served beginning at 11:30. The program will begin at noon.
