Myrtle groups sponsoring farmers’ market in town park

The Vicki M. Smith Foundation, The Greater Myrtle Area Business Association and the Town of Myrtle are pleased to announce the 2021 Myrtle Farmer’s Market.

It’s still chilly and wet but organizers are busy paving the way for growers, producers and bakers to bring the fruits of their labor to the Myrtle Market.

The Farmer’s Market will run each Saturday from Saturday, June 5, through Saturday, August 28, opening at 7:30 a.m. and closing at 10 a.m. There are no fees.

Located at the Myrtle City Park, participants may set up their truck or tent in assigned spaces with customer parking areas provided. Organizers say they hope participants including all of Union County will join them at the market.

Selling locally sourced produce in a rural area far from large grocers provides a service to both the community and the grower. They said they hope that you will bring your baked goods, jellies, jams and eggs for purchase as well.

They do ask that you register so that they may furnish adequate space for your needs by calling 662-988-3375 or 662-832-3714 or by emailing Susan Jones at sfjones29@gmail.com.

The Vicki M. Smith Foundation was created by Myrtle native Michael Hale to honor his late wife. Plans included a two-acre garden because of her love of flowers. She also was an accomplished pianist and dancer as well as establishing the Sunshine Inn assisted living facility.
