New Albany Main Street launches a new Adopt-a-Street program
In conjunction with other community cleanup efforts, New Albany Main Street is beginning an adopt-a-street program.
This program allows individuals, businesses, or community organizations to maintain and beautify its streets by removing litter. By participating, volunteers agree to:
- adopt a one-mile segment of street in the city limits
- agree to remove trash/debris a minimum of four times per year for at least a two-year period
- New Albany Main Street will publicly recognize each group or individual’s cleanup efforts via digital billboard, periodic print media, and boosted social media posts, crediting volunteers for their commitment to removing litter and beautifying our city.
“We’ll continue to coordinate big community cleanup events throughout the year, but the Adopt-a-Street program will help support people who want to keep their community clean all year round,” said Emily Draffen, Assistant Director of Community Development and the Coordinator of the Adopt-a-Street Program. Participants will be able to check out trash grabbers and safety vests at the Main Street office for their self-directed clean-ups.
