New Albany man reported in drowning accident

WTVA reported Sunday that a New Albany man died as a result of accidental drowning in the Tenn-Tom Waterway Saturday.

The report said that Christopher O’Neal Brown, 24, was swimming with his family shortly before noon. He apparently jumped off a boat, came to the surface but then sank and did not resurface.

The accident occurred near the Jamie Whitten Campground between Lock C and D according to the news report.

The sheriff’s department responded and at last report a search was underway for Brown’s body, WTVA said.

Incomplete funeral arrangements for Brown are listed by Serenity-Simmons Funeral Home in New Albany.
