Nadine Simmons Jones, 97

Nadine Simmons Jones, 97, went to her heavenly home Feb. 4, 2023. She was born in Verona to Joshua and Bertha Hawkins Simmons on August 21, 1925. The Simmons family moved to Saltillo in 1946. The first Sunday, after moving, she joined the Methodist church where she was an active member until her death. Saltillo is where she met her Husband John W Jones. The two married in 1950. In November 1951 they built and moved into their home and lived there until their deaths. She was a founding member of the Saltillo Historical Committee where she served until her death. Nadine liked sports, games, sewing, gardening, fishing, and cooking for family and spending time with friends. John and Nadine had one son, William Thomas (Bill) Jones, PhD.



Survivors include one son, Dr. William T (Bill) Jones and wife Rilla; two grandchildren, Dr. Andrew
Jones, MD (Madeleine), and Dr. Katie Jones, MD; brother, Gil Simmons; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Josh and Bertha Hawkins Simmons; her husband of 57 years, John W Jones; sisters Janette Arnold, Dorothy Smith, JoAnn Newman, Betty Westmoreland; and brothers, Sterling, Milton, and Bill Simmons.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at Pegues, Saltillo. Services will follow at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Saltillo Chapel with Rev. Tim Green and Rev. Ray Rooney officiating. Burial will be in Saltillo Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dale Brock, Christopher Brock, Jacob Brock, Fred Westmorland, Wes Westmorland, Marcus Simmons, Josh Robertson, Rick Robertson, and Jon Newman.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Reed Jones, MD, Frankie Hopkins, and members of Adeline Jones Sunday School Class of Saltillo First Methodist Church, members of the Tuesday night Chicken Foot group, Ronnie and Sharon Dunaway, and Richard Murff.

In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the Saltillo First Methodist Church, PO Box 146, Saltillo MS 38866.
