There will be a special free showing Saturday afternoon, April 1, 2017, of a video of New Albany elementary school music students playing with North Mississippi Symphony Orchestra. The showing will begin at 12:30 p.m. at the Movie Reel at 720 Coulter Drive.
For the first time ever New Albany Elementary school music students had the opportunity to play with a full symphony orchestra last year. The event on Friday, April 22, 2016, filled the largest auditorium in town, the one at New Albany High School. However, because of the large number of elementary music students involved in the performance, there was not enough room to allow parents, grandparents and friends to attend the performance.
Fortunately, TV 99 New Albany produced a professional video of the entire performance, and that video will be what parents, grandparents and other members of the community will be able to see Saturday afternoon.

Carnegie Foundation of New York sponsors the Carnegie Link Up program to allow elementary students the experience of playing music with a full professional orchestra. The New Albany Symphony League raises the thousands of dollars needed to pay for the performance of the orchestra. The group is actively seeking donations now for the 2017 performance next month.
All parents, grandparents and any others interested in music education in New Albany are urged to attend the free showing of the TV99 video of last year’s performance, Saturday, 12:30 p.m., at the Movie Reel.
