Health sciences students tell middle school PE class about BMI

Students from the Health Sciences class at New Albany High School of Career & Technical Education recently visited the physical education classes at New Albany Middle School.  The Health Sciences students discussed body mass index (BMI) and the importance of maintaining a healthy BMI and weight; used the scale to determine height and weight of middle school PE students; and PE students used the CDC.gov  BMI calculator online to determine their BMI.  PE students also learned nutrition basics and the importance of being physically active. These lessons and activities were provided as part of the Career & Technical Education Non-Traditional Participation Grant Project.  The goal of this grant is to provide students enriched and rigorous early exposure to non-traditional related experiences.
